Destination 1 : What is Android?
Android is an Operating System just like Windows, MacOS, Linux etc. Released in late 2008, Android has evolved since then and has become the most widely used mobile operating systems, having 2 billion monthly active users. It was developed by a consortium of developers known as the Open Handset Alliance, with the main contributor and marketer being Google. Android supports a large number of applications in smartphones, laptops, televisions, watches, etc. It has got 2.9 million applications on Google Play store which has made communication easy and convenient. Also, being an open source operating system, it is free of cost and can be used by anyone.
Destination 2 : What is Google Play Store?
Google Play Store is the android marketplace where you will find millions of applications to use. Similar to your grocery store, Play store is a place where developers post their apps so that users can download and use them. The apps available on play store are compatible only on android.
Destination 3 : Versions of Android
The development of android started in 2003 and the first version that is Android 1.0 was released in October 2008. As we know the android versions have sweet candy or dessert-style code names, the versions 1.0 and 1.1 didn't have a public code name. It was not until the release of Android 1.5, that the version got its first public code name CUPCAKE. The credits for this name convention goes to the project manager Ryan Gibson. After the release of Android 4.4 KITKAT, an official statement was made that said "Since these devices make our lives so sweet, each android version is named after a dessert." Also, google names every android version in alphabetical order, that means the name of the next version would start with Q. Have a look on the versions and their dessert-style names.

Destination 4 : Android Application
Android Application is a software application which runs on the android platform and consists of a user interface tied together with the logic behind it. These applications are used by us to communicate, order things online, play games, watch news, etc.
Every application has two parts:
Front End : This is what we see on our screens, also known as user interface. This part is coded or developed using XML ( extensible markup language).
Back End : This is the main logic of the application. It is used to add functionalities to the app. It is coded using Java, Kotlin or C++ .
Android Apps are developed using Android Studio and Software development kit (SDK). Also, there are App inventors available online (for example, MIT App Inventor), where app development is made convinient for beginners.
